Celi Courtney, LPC-MHSP Clinical Director

Celi is a Licensed Professional Counselor providing mental and behavioral health services. She obtained her master's degree from Carson Newman University and an undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Tennessee.


In 2013, Celi began offering counseling services to the community surrounding Cokesbury with the guidance, wisdom, and supervision of Vicky McDaniel. Celi’s previous professional experience includes work in the financial industry for over 25 years. Upon Vicky’s retirement as clinical director in 2021, Celi began serving in that role while continuing to work with Cokesbury’s Recovery Ministries.


Celi desires to offer a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental place where people are invited to heal and grow. She considers it a privilege to partner with clients as they unfold their unique stories to seek direction and healing.


Celi’s counseling interest and experience include working with individuals recovering from compulsions and guiding family members toward healthy ways to be supportive. Celi has experience in educating clients on tool, skills and resources to enhance relationships and communication. She has worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, anger, parenting, self-worth, spiritual identity, and symptoms resulting from trauma. Celi enjoys spending time enjoying her three grandchildren, water and snow skiing, hiking, and diving deep into God's word through personal study and group discussions.

Vicky McDaniel is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider. She obtained a master's degree from the University of Memphis in Counseling. She began working as a therapist for Cokesbury in 2006.


Vicky has worked in several clinical settings including inpatient for mental health, chemical dependency and geriatric issues. She also worked four years in a local community mental health setting. Vicky recently retired from full-time counseling and now works part-time.


Vicky's counseling interests and experience include working with individuals recovering from addictions and assisting family members in supporting loved ones in healthy ways; helping clients heal from sexual abuse trauma; handling divorce along with single parenting and step-parenting; depression and anxiety; self-esteem and faith struggles. 


Vicky is a National Board Certified Counselor and is an active member of the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counseling Association.

Vicky is married. She and her husband have three adult children, three grandsons and one granddaughter. They love to visit as often as possible since all of their kids live out of the area.

Ashley Lewis, MS, LMFT

Ashley Lewis, a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, received her master’s degree from East Carolina University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clemson University. She has worked in the mental health field since 1998 in various settings, including a children's home, community mental health clinics, hospital outpatient program, non-profit serving children and families, and Catholic Social Services - Host Homes Program for runaway and homeless teens and families. She joined Cokesbury Counseling Center in 2014 and works part-time.


Ashley’s counseling interests include premarital preparation, marriage and family issues, life transitions, blended families, grief, spiritual development, caregiving, and medical family therapy. She is a trained facilitator for the Prepare-Enrich © Program and provides premarital counseling for Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She is a Level 1 Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and has completed additional training on Trauma in individuals, couples, and families. Ashley is a member of the Tennessee Association for Marital and Family Therapy. 


Ashley is from Tazewell, VA and has lived in Knoxville since 2008. She and her husband married in 2002 and have two teenage daughters. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys gardening, baking, creative arts, being outdoors, volunteering with youth ministry, and spending time with family and friends.
